Planning and Working Independently!

Our regular Montessori routine is gearing down as we are busy with summer activities. We do more practical life activities in summer although our girls are always welcome to go into the classroom to do work as they please. What do you do in summer as far as homeschooling, Montessori preschool or education in general?

One evening after our daughter was in her pj’s she asked if she could choose some work. Since she still had half an hour till bedtime I let her go into the classroom while I put her little sister to bed! When I came back to check on her this is what I saw.

I love that our daughter has the freedom to work in the classroom as she desires too. She is at the age that she knows how to do many different works independently!

When I observe, I am quiet and do not shower praise.

As a mommy though,  I really am proud of her accomplishments!

I am starting to get more materials and activities ready for Fall and organize them into folders. I like to have activities ready for when the children show interest them.

Can I let you in on a little (ok, BIG) secret? You will want to stay tuned to our Monday’s Montessori Moment posts for the next week or 2. We have something AMAZING for one of you! Stay tuned!!!

Just found your blog and am loving these Montessori Mondays! My daughter goes to Montessori 2x a week and will be finishing her first year there this June. So she's with me every day for 2 months and I've been trying to figure out how to bring Montessori into our home so she won't be bored and still continue to learn in the summer.

She has done really well this school year (doctors were a bit concerned with developmental delays) and my husband and I are so in love with her school and all that her teachers have done to get her to "catch up"

Looking forward to getting some great tips from you! :)
