What a week! (and link-up)

 *Warning- LONG post ahead*

We’ve sure had a busy week! We are about to start renovations of our entire main floor so I have been busy trying to get everything ready. I had to move our Montessori space into half the area downstairs – it was a difficult process since space was so limited, but here is what I came up with.
I put 2 shelves on top of each other leaving the most selected works on the bottom of the shelves. Since my older daughter is not here during the day her works are on the higher shelves. Not ideal, but we need to do what works ~ I’m just thankful we still have a space to work in!

Here are a few of the works that the children selected this week.
Tonging Pom Poms
Using a ladle to transfer dried chickpeas.
Our French books are now on the shelf and we have English books in the family room & bedrooms.
This extension of the Pink tower had not been done in a while. It was nice to see!
Used the knobbed cylinders and knobless cylinders. She stacked them on top of one another – I did not get a picture.
Working with the first red Waseca book from the North American Biome Readers.  I read the book with her, then she placed the pictures and words in the correct order using the back to self check her work.

We keep them all together in a little basket. I LOVE this work 🙂
Practicing counting to 100
using the golden bead chain.
We also did this activity for the first time.

After ironing we pealed back the wax paper
They turned out beautiful! I think we may put a magnet on the back!

So yummy!
We also celebrated my grandma’s 76th birthday with her!
As a family activity we planted a tree in the backyard.
Everyone pitched in!
I love seeing all the hands working together!
Big girl helped to hammer the little fence – until….

she got a bit to close with the hammer – she was brave though and after a band-aid she was back out to make sure she did not miss anything.
She was the first one to water our little tree!
Now we will watch it grow.
Wow, what a busy but FUN week!

You've inspired me to set up our own mini-school area. It will only be a few shelves/drawers, but it's a start! What are the Waseca books? I've never heard of those.
