Tonight I watched The Sound of Music for the first time. Hubby even watched it with me.
I am the only one on the face of the planet that has not seen it before? I’m 30 and no, I have never seen it before tonight. I asked all my friends on Twitter and Facebook and out of over 5000 only 2 others said they had not seen it.
Ok, so my grandma is the one who convinced me to watch it. I was at her place on Monday and she was watching the Oprah special…the one with the The Sound of Music cast reuniting after 45 years. When I told her I had never seen the movie she could hardly believe it. She said I just had to watch the movie. Well, who can say no to their grandma…not me!
Then just before watching the movie today I found out (via a friend on Twitter) that Agathe von Trapp, the eldest daughter of the von Trapp family, died yesterday.
As I am sitting here reflecting on the movie and now see why is is one of the highest-grossing movies of all time. It is a feel good movie, a wonderful family movie and exceptional musical. I loved it, what else can i say?
Tell me, have you seen The Sound of Music?

I've seen it many times. As a teenager - it always seemed to be on TV the same time as the Super Bowl, and I was never interested in football. :) And, when my daughters were young, we went through all the classic musicals - The King & I, My Fair Lady, and one of our favorites, The Sound of Music.

Love, love, love the Sound of Music! The boys have seen bits of it, too...the beginning up to the part where they put on a puppet show...they love the puppet show and have asked why we can't have a big one like that!!!The boys love the songs from it too, which is not a surprise, as I love the soundtrack too. We actually have an upbeat kids' version of the song, My Favorite Things, and it is Big Bro's favorite song.Glad that you got to watch it...such a classic.Colleen:)

Oh my. I've watched this several times, since I was a child. I think I still have it on laser disc! It's a great movie. And Julie Andrews was so wonderful in it too! Glad you liked the movie, and finally got to watch it!
