It’s time to do the Pill Toss!

Time to toss those pills : Mommy Moment

It’s that time of year where I spend some time going through the medicine cabinet and check the expiry dates.

I do not want to wake up in the middle of the night with a sick child and accidentally give them a dose of something that is out of date. I also do not want to take something that has past it’s shelf life. (I know some people may be good at checking the dates every time they use them, but I find I often do not end up using a product up before it expires…)

I have made it a habit to do the pill toss yearly between Christmas and New Years.

Goodbye old meds…

Confession: I almost added the photo of the pills in the toilet, but decided to spare you 😉

What about you, do you do the pill toss too?

I do the same exact thing. I love to clean out my medicine cabinet and all my makeup and products.

I do the purge too. Usually twice a year - when school starts and around May 2-4. The beginning of the school year makes me think of runny noses and cold season, and May 2-4 is just a convenient time to think about summer allergy meds and sunscreens. All the expired stuff, prescription and non, goes to my pharmacist at Shoppers for disposal. I only once had a problem, when I turned in a prescription from another Shoppers. The front-line girl fussed, but the owner said no problem - he'd do it as a favour to the other guy, whom he knew :)
