Blogging Stars! We need them all!

I have been blogging for just over 2 years.

Lately I have noticed more support for bloggers. There are forums and more Facebook groups popping up where bloggers can help and support one another.

I think it’s great!

But…

It did not take long before I started playing the “comparing game”. Of course there are always people who will get opportunities that you do not get etc, but that is not what I am talking about in this post.

What I noticed was that some people just seem to be able to do it all. No matter how many groups they are in they always seem to have time to leave nice comments on others blogs and they always have time to help others out. They seem to have time to tweet others when they have had a rough day and they seem to have that “perfect” balance.

I love people, I love blogging, I love supporting and encouraging others, but I found I was comparing myself to the other super bloggers who seem more gifted at connecting with other bloggers online.

Then I thought about it.

And thought about it some more.

I realized that every person has different gifts. I realized that even though I may not have time to comment on all my wonderful friends blog all the time, it’s ok. I realize that even though I may be in the shadows when it comes to some of these things, I DO have places that I shine too.  When I actually get to meet others in person I light up. I love giving hugs, I love looking someone in the eye and telling them they are beautiful, I love uplifting others and encouraging them to dream BIG…and I need to quit feeling bad that that may not always shine through the same way online!

As bloggers we need to remember to focus on the areas where we shine instead of focusing on where we do not feel we measure up.

It takes many “stars” to fill the blogging/social media sky…none is ever the same, yet it takes all of them to brighten the sky.

Happy Blogging to my many online/blog friends…I love you all, even if I do not tell you often enough!

  3. Awww…you’re so sweet – you’re a star too :) Thank you!

  4. I love … “As bloggers we need to remember to focus on the areas where we shine instead of focusing on where we do not feel we measure up.”

I think this applies to moms too. Everyone has their own gifts. It would be a pretty boring world if we were all the same. :-)

  5. Hear, hear!

  6. Perfectly said. It is too easy to look at everyone else and see where we don’t shine. But it takes all of us together to make it what it is.

    • Thanks Rachel…I seem to need to remind myself of this often. But I just keep thinking about all the stars in the sky. If there was only 1, it would not seem very bright at all. Thanks for leaving a comment!

  7. Such great post. I love that bloggers are more supportive, in every way :)

  8. Thank you for that wonderful post!! I have been blogging for about 6 months and love it too!! I agree that there are some amazing blogs out there that I learn tons from every time I visit. Yours is now on my list…

  15. You know, connecting with other bloggers takes the whole experience to a higher level. For so long I was in my own little world, and now it is completely different. So much better.

    Thanks for this post, Jody!

  17. Love this post! You are a rockstar!

  18. Well Said Jody! I once heard a sermon that struck me, the woman said “Don’t compare yourself on a bad day to someone else on their best day….you’ll be wrong”

  19. Thanks that was a wonderful post that I think many of us need to hear! It’s hard to keep up with 12 FB Rooms, 2 Blogs, reviews, twitter, etc… There has to be a point we realize we don’t have to do it all.. Thank you for your wise words

    • Thanks for your comment Jenn! I try to remember, when I am feeling a certain way there must be others who have felt the same way…I’m so glad I wrote the post, it seems my assumption was correct.

  20. Wow! I really enjoyed reading your blog post. When I blog I feel free to say what I feel and share what I find interesting and useful for others. I am so happy to see that you came to the realization that your Star is good enough and you are perfect just the way you are with how you blog. It’s really good to know that there is a community of bloggers and it’s also cool to be “really” apart of it all now. I have learned so much from every blogger I come across and how everything works together. I really enjoy sitting at my computer and working on my blogs now…it’s close to an addiction…but a good one :) Thanks for sharing! You are AWESOME! God bless. -Selena

  22. What an incredibly sweet post. You do much further than comment, you write amazing posts of appreciation.

  23. This is wise. We can beat ourselves up too often for not being able to do everything.
