Minimize Monday ~ consignment stores #Linky

I’ve gotta say it…WOW. Why have I never brought well loved clothes to a consignment store before?

This weekend we brought some clothes to the city to both Once Upon A Child and Moms and Children’s Paradise. I left with a lot less stuff and $90 in my pocket.

I was so thrilled. It was so easy and I can’t believe I have never done this before.

Please tell me I am not the only one on the planet who has not done this yet. I plan to make this a regular habit when my girls outgrow their clothes and toys!

If you have brought stuff to a consignment store before what were your thoughts?

I've never done consignment for the kid's clothing - but we do have a great independent toy store in Langley called Toy Traders that takes in a lot of the toys kids outgrow. You might not get a lot, but they often take a lot which makes it worth the time. I have friends who do that because they don't want to do the swapmeets. We usually do the kids swapmeets a couple times a year and then I've sold what's left as a lot on craigslist to avoid dealing with lots of people for one item at time. I also donate a lot of what doesn't sell at the swapmeet as there is usually a pickup for a local charity afterward and when It's the one that does a 'free store' for families I love to share with them.

I sell lots of M's stuff at Once Upon a Child. I bought lot of stuff there when he was smaller as well. I have found that our local one seems to be paying out less than they used to (new ownership), but it's still a quick way to get a little cash and free up some space. Anything they don't buy gets dropped off at the SA thrift shop on the way home. I don't sell big items there - way better to sell on Kijiji or Craigslist, though more work

OH I used to love MCP when we lived in Winnipeg! We have a nice store here in Southern AB that I love going to! But you really need to know your prices, to make sure you are getting a good deal! I also love selling stuff on Kijiji and FB!

Thanks. I will try when I get home again and just link to your blog if it is not wanting to work.

I have taken my stuff to a consignment store before but they all closed down here. I made out alright but found the kids clothing sales a better bet but it's a lot of work too so I have stopped. I sell some stuff on Facebook too. Our last consignment store here was too overpriced for sometime really poor quality or stained clothing and would get sometimes all my stuff back unsold or make very little as it would be sold on clearance racks.

I was very excited about posting my first minimize Monday post this week but can't seem to get the code for your button to copy over properly and am heading to bed. Will try to figure out what I am doing wrong tomorrow.
