Giving Back this Christmas Season with A Joy To Share Campaign #KinderMom

With the Christmas season around the corner, our thoughts are often driven to what we can do for others.  Ever since our daughter was born 6 years ago, we have started a couple of traditions that we carry out every year.

The first thing we participate in, is the mid-November Samaritan’s Purse Shoe box Drive.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the message of God’s unconditional love.

Every year we stop in at our local Canadian Tire and pick up 2 Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes.  Then we head off for an evening of shopping.  My kids have a hard time choosing which items they will put in the box and we often buy so much that our boxes are bulging.

In these shoe boxes we put the following items:

  • School Supplies – like pens, pencil crayons, note pads, erasers and pencil sharpeners.
  • Toys & Other Gifts – Items liked books, stuffed animals, harmonicas, recorders, hair clips, toy jewelry, socks and other things my kids think need to be in there.
  • Hygiene Items – like toothbrushes, combs, brushes and soap.
  • Personal Note & Picture – including a personal note and/or picture is a great way to make your child more personally connected to the project

Once we have purchased all our items, we bring them home, pack up the shoe boxes and drop them off at a designated drop off center.  My kids understand that a child who does not live in their country and who does not have what they have will receive these gifts.  I am kicking myself for not taking photos of the whole shoe box buying/packing process.

Another project we take part in, is Christmas Hampers through our local food bank.  Each year we try and bring food and toys to a drop off location.  My kids have a blast picking out toys and food that they think other kids would like to receive.

KINDER®’s ‘A Joy To Share’ program is Kinder’s way of supporting the Children’s Miracle Network, who has been helping to save and improve the lives of children since 1983.

A Joy to Share Campaign

Kinder Canada is also giving back this Christmas season!  In support of Children’s Miracle Network, KINDER® is hosting another BIG giveaway via Facebook starting TODAY!

To kick off the sharing, KINDER® Canada will be giving away 7,500 coupons to enjoy their delicious NEW Kinder® Mini Eggs!  Starting today (and every weekday for 10 days), Kinder Canada will be giving giving out 750 coupons at 12pm EST.  This is an exclusive opportunity for the Kinder Canada’s Facebook community.

These Kinder Mini Eggs are delicious!  With the creamy, hazelnut center they are not peanut free, so I think these yummy, mini goodness will stay a treat for Mommy and Daddy since it can’t be put into the lunch kits.

While you are on the Kinder Canada Facebook page, take a look at the video of the Martin Family.  For every share that this video gets, Kinder will donate $1 to the Children’s Miracle Network, up to $5,000.

Tell us: How do you give back during the Christmas season?
