How do you know it’s Christmas time?

Some say its the change of weather, while others have to look on a calendar.  However, for me the answer was always a simple one: it was when the Sears Wish Book came out.

I remember as a child leafing through the toy section with a pair of scissors, cutting, gluing, doing more cutting and more cutting and then some more gluing till the Wish Book was reduced to the “boring mommy and daddy sections”.  Somethings never change and for our children this tradition still carries on.  With the Wish Book being 60 years old this year, I am sure there are similar stories out there.

Fast forward 20 years from when I had the Wish Book and we have tools like online shopping to help us in our quest for the perfect toy.  New for Sears and the Wish Book is the online options for all Sears customers.  Simply go to the Sears website and you can browse from over 1800 toys.  Yes 1800 TOYS!

Another feature this year that you need to take advantage of is the Toy Finder.  This is an awesome tool you can use to defeat all the shopping crowds.  Simply answer the following questions: boy or girl, age, and price range and you get a selection of toys that fit your buying profile according to 4 profiles: Sears pick, Most popular, Best Value and Just added.  Buying online has never been simpler.

Using this tool we found the Dora the Explorer Storage Tent.  This would be a huge hit with our girls this Christmas.

The Wish Book was a part of Christmas when I was a child and today it is still the same.  Looking at it today with my girls brings me back to great memories when I was a child.  And like all traditions, I hope this one will pass on to the next generation.
