Canadian families LOVE traditions – especially during the holiday seasons. One tradition my family enjoys, is popping some popcorn and watching a movie. We watch the majority of our movies on Netflix.

Our favourite family tradition (like most of our traditions), involves food. We go out for lunch, as a family, every Christmas Eve. We have been doing this for 29 years and it is such a relaxing way to reconnect during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. We missed one year when our daughter was in New Zealand and that was a very sad Christmas for us.

I had six children and opening gifts could be caodic, so I had them take turns going from the youngest to the oldest.
I love decorating the tree together with Christmas music on!
My favorite family tradition is actually with my boyfriend. We shop early so we can enjoy the season more. We bake, wrap, drink eggnong, decorate the tree and watch movies while others fight traffic, the malls and parking lots. This is a true way of enjoying the season.

We don’t have any real family traditions. We tend to mix it up. But we do play games together, read together, take turns opening presents, and eat supper as a family around the dinner table every night.
We do a gift exchange, everyone puts a number into a jar and then draws a number, then they go in number order and pick a gift (not knowing what it is) and if they don’t like it, they can “steal” from someone else who’s already opened a gift. The last person to open a gift gets their choice of all the other gifts.

We serve Russian soup on Christmas day and have an open house for lunch. We save the Turkey for boxing day and go out. It’s lovely to have a light meal and less stress on family members.
My favourite family tradition is that we once a week all eat dinner togther and watch a family movie. During Christmas my favourite tradition is going to a tree farm and picking a tree together, having a sleigh ride, outside fire and go out for lunch, a really fabulous day!

My favorite family tradition is known as “The Annual Christmas Tree Hunt”. My husband, my two children and my sister and her husband all pile into a truck and drive way out into the country to hunt for the perfect Christmas trees. Always an enjoyable day

Our family loves food so eating all the Christmas goodies is a great tradition, especially after going to Chistmas Eve Mass.
One of my favourite traditions is on Christmas eve there is a no tv/computer rule in our house and so we spend the evening together playing board games and chatting and eating lots of finger foods and then Christmas morning we all go downstairs together to see what Santa brought and eat homemade Christmas bread while opening gifts. That afternoon we then head out for a family hike.
