DIY Little Love Bugs

Love bugs

I remember making a version of these little cuties when I was younger. What a perfect craft to do with my boys on a chilly Sunday. These cute little love bugs are a great craft for any age (even my hubby got in on the crafting today!).

Love Bugs

What you will need:

  • Pom Poms- assorted sizes (we used 1 big, 1 medium and 2 small for our bugs)
  • Glue gun
  • Googly eyes
  • Scissors
  • Jewels
  • Craft glue
  • Cardstock or construction paper
  • Pen or pencil
  • Pipe cleaners

 Love Bugs

First take your paper and cut into squares. The bigger the square, the bigger your bug’s wings will be. Fold the paper in half and draw a heart outwards from the fold and cut out heart. Open it up and you will have your bugs cute heart shaped wings J

Next let the little ones (or big ones) decorate the wings with jewels and attach googly eyes to the head. Let glue dry.

Once your wings are dry you can put a drop of hot glue onto the back of the wings and press onto larger pom pom (the body). Then put some more hot glue on the top of the wings and secure the little bugs head. You can also add little antenna if you want. Just cut off a piece of pipe cleaner and fold in half, hot glue two small pom poms to each end and hot glue to the back of your bugs head.

And there you go, a cute little love bug just for you!… or that special someone ; )

Ps. my husband had to take it a couple steps further and add little feet to his love bug. He said that he just did what his “amazing instructor” told him to do but added a bit more.. I personally think he is showing off (kidding!)

These bugs are really cute but I love all of the embellishments on the bug the most
