Turning Family Moments Into Memories That Last A Lifetime At Disney’s Magic Kingdom

Our girls were two and four;  the age of enlightenment, as I like to say.

Their love for princesses was blossoming and dreams of meeting a real live princess were talked about continuously by four-year-old Kate.

I dreamed right along-side her. I never had the opportunity to visit a Disney Park as a child, so the excitement of being able to go was one our whole family could barely contain.

From the moment we told our daughters about our decision to visit Walt Disney World until the very moment we walked through the Magic Kingdom gates, Kate made it clear that she wanted to meet a princess. Not just any princess. It had to be Snow White, the beautiful princess with black hair, just like her mommy. Hearing Kate say those words over and over created a moment that will be etched in my memory forever.

Upon our arrival we were told there would be a line by the castle and that Snow White would appear in 10 minutes.  Luck, however, was on our side because we were first in line.  To Kate the wait seemed like a life time, but the moment Snow White made her grand entrance made every moment worth waiting for. Kate was speechless and we could see the sparkle in her eyes…her dream had come true right in front of us.  The look on her face was of pure joy. When a parent sees magic come alive in their child’s eyes, it is something very special, something no words can ever quite describe.

I consider myself blessed that we were all a part of that memory. There is so much to do and see at the Disney Parks. If this one very small moment from our family trip to the Magic Kingdom made a lifelong memory for us, one can only imagine what memories you can make by taking a Disney vacation in 2013.

Investing in our children and our family is something that is very important. Family fun nights are a weekly occurrence in our home and although time has passed since our magical visit, the discussions and memories have not faded. Family fun nights often include looking through the photos of our magical family trip.

Moments pass by in the blink of an eye. 2013 is a great year to make dreams come true.

  1. I think everyone dreams of going to Disney and it is a memorable event. We are close enough where I can even take my grand kids to down town Disney and they love that as well.

  2. I went to Disney when I was in grade 9 – we are saving to take our family there, hopefully in the next year or two!

  3. That looks like one fun trip! I have never been there, but maybe one day :-D

  4. So awesome! We’re planning a trip to Disney with Little One too. Love hearing about your experience. Your girls are totally adorbs!

  5. I am unsure if we will make it or not this year. We are heading to Florida to review some resorts. But I don’t know how close we will be to Disney this time around. We’ll see I guess. I love Disney. I am a big fan. Their attention to detail for families who have children with special needs is just incredible. I love that this is the most special place in the world and it is also beyond inclusive with special attention given to those who need help, or fast pass, or strollers/ wheelchairs. I mean that is the thing that keeps me coming back as an adult making purchasing decisions for our whole family.

  6. I love how excited your daughter looks to meet her favourite princess! Yes, we took our 5 kids to Disney in December 2012 and they really loved it. So much so, that we may return again this year.

  7. Its funny I was just talking to some friends this weekend about going to Disney when our girls were 4 and 7… what perfect ages. I have very fond memories of that trip. I would love to go back with them… definitely something to consider this year.

  8. We are hoping to take a trip this summer to the park in Florida. We wanted out kids to be older so they could enjoy it.

  9. Looks like y’all had a blast! We are planing a trip this summer. hoping we can get at least 1 day at Disney in.

  10. I wish we could go to Disney this year, but it is so not in the budget. Maybe one day.

  11. Love the photos! We can’t wait to take our little guy there for the first time. I have a feeling that once we take him once, we’re going to want to go every year. :)

  12. My daughter too met Snow White as her very first princess there and it was a perfect memory. We are planning a trip for this spring and are so excited! Hope you get to go back soon. Disney was a huge part of my childhood!

  13. Never been, but dreaming we can go as a family in the years to come. The best part “Dreams do come true” I will make it there one day :) Beautiful family and great memories you made together.

  14. I think every family that visits a Disney park needs the obligatory photo in front of the castle, no matter the weather (looks like rain?) It’s just a must-do!!
