Durbanville Hills Has the Perfect Wine to Pair with Your Mother’s Day Celebration

Mother’s Day is a celebration.  It is there to help us remember the mothers, grandmothers, aunts and other mother figures in our lives.

Are you planning a Mother’s Day brunch with a bunch of friends?  Why not get together and celebrate each other?

Passionate Sangria

Sangria, the popular Spanish wine punch, is a perfect drink to serve at a Mother’s Day brunch, lunch or dinner.  To make this delicious summer-time quencher you will need the following ingredients:

Passionate Sangria

1 bottle (750 ml) of Solaz Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon
2 oz Duff Gordon brandy
2 oz Cinzano sweet red vermouth
1 cup pineapple juice
1 cup passion fruit juice
slices of oranges, lemons and limes (make sure to remove the seeds)

Directions:
Add all ingredients into a pitcher and gently stir.  Refrigerate for 4-10 hours.  Remove from refrigerator, add ice and stir gently before serving.

This beautiful drink is perfect for sipping in the sunshine, talking and remembering or celebrating the moms in your life.

If you are looking to celebrate with the woman who impacted your life with a nice toast and glass of wine, Durbanville Hills has the perfect wine to pair with your Mother’s Day celebrations.

I don’t know much about pairing wines.  I like some wines, but have never understood what makes them pair well with different items.  Durbanville Hills sent me 2 bottles of wine (1 red and 1 white) and guess what they are pairing them with?  Chocolate!  What a great combination to treat mom to this Mother’s Day.

Durbanville Hills

The Durbanville Hills Shiraz wine contains spicy pepper, cloves, fruit and spice.  This wine pairs great with the Spiced South Easter chocolate.  The smooth milk chocolate replete with cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves helps lift the pepper flavor of the Shiraz.

The Durbanville Hills Sauvignon Blanc wine contains lime, grapefruit and green fig.  The White Morning Mist chocolate with hints of lime, green apple, sea salt and ginger complements the wine’s freshness and highlights the wine’s tropical fruits.

It truly is an experience to try wine with food (in this case chocolate) that is specifically meant to increase the flavor and taste of the wine.  And if you are looking for a wine to pair with your next meal, the Durbanville Hills website has food pairing suggestions with each wine.  For instance, the Durbanville Hills Shiraz is recommended to serve with lamb neck potjie, waterblommetjie stew, pepper steak, venison pie and roast duck .

Do you pair your wines with specific foods?  If so, tell me your favorite pairing!
