Watermelon Cake

cut up watermelon cake

Every summer I look forward to the big, red, juicy watermelon that come from Texas.  It’s a summer staple that I love to eat and feed to my kids.

Last summer I shared with you the three tier fruit cake made with real fruit.

This summer I decided on another watermelon cake but this time it is real cake meant to look like a watermelon.

Not only did I decorate the outside to mimic the fruit, I colored the inside so that when you cut it you get the same effect.

My kids loved this version and would probably prefer to eat this over the real thing if I let them.
