No worries! There is a reduced priced if you want to opt out of the workshop and simply travel each morning through the beautiful hills of Tuscany. The itinerary includes visits to: Pienza, St. Antimo Abbey in Montalcino, the Daniel Spoerri Garden in Seggiano, Montepulciano (recent findings prove that a settlement was already in existence in the 4th-3rd centuries BC!) and lastly the cradle of the Renaissance Florence. You will be picked up and escorted back to Rome, so you may want to include an overnight or two in that magical city as well.
Here’s the best part: You would be staying at the private estate called Antica Tenuta Le Casacce. This information is from their website:
“Le Casacce is located near Seggiano, sixty kilometres south of Siena in the province of Grosetto. It has magnificent panoramic views of the hills of Tuscany. Owned by Enrico Casini, it is the perfect place to call home during your stay in Italy. Le Casacce dominates the Orcia valley, between Monte Amiata and Montalcino. It is surrounded by a park full of breathtakingly beautiful, centuries-old olive trees.
Le Cassace dates back to 1260, and by the early 17th century it was the site of an important oil press. In the 1990s it was it renovated, remaining absolutely faithful to its ancient Tuscan features. The tradition of producing extraordinary extra virgin oil from the local “Olivastre di Seggiano” was restored. These olives are only grown in the area of Le Casacce. The olives give a unique and inimitable oil, which can even boast curative properties due to its high antioxidant content.
The apartments, measuring between 30 and 130 square meters, are located in the various farmhouses dotted around the Estate, amidst the olive trees and meadows and equipped with a fireplace, independent heating, satellite TV and dishwasher.
The guest suites are located in the various farmhouses on the Estate. The guest suites vary from 1-4 bedrooms. Larger apartments have two bathrooms. The suites are decorated in a rustically elegant Tuscan style. Many of the suites have private terraces.
Apartment suites are randomly assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis. If two guests are not registered together as a couple, attendees will be paired together based on age and gender. Of course, you can always request to be suite-mates with a specific person.
In the midst of the colours, scents and atmospheres of the Orcia valley, owner and Master Chef Enrico Casini brings to you the traditional flavours of Italian, and especially Tuscan, cuisine. The dishes from Enrico’s kitchen are without compare.
Breakfast at Le Casacce is served buffet-style and includes homemade pastries, cheeses, yogurt, cereal, meat, eggs, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. You may eat indoors in the dining room or outside on the patio where you may enjoy the fresh air and beautiful beginnings of a Tuscan morning.
At dinner, Enrico enjoys greeting each guest and describing the ingredients of each course and how it was prepared. All dishes are made from locally grown foods, many of which come directly from Le Casacce. Each course brings about “oohs” and “aahs” from around the table. The service is excellent and the attention to detail makes every meal at Le Casacce a winner!
Wine, alcohol, cappuccino and bottled water are not included in the price of your workshop/tour. These items may be purchased à la carte at Le Casacce or in town at wine shops or grocery stores and brought in for your personal enjoyment. Any food allergies or dietary restrictions can be accommodated by Enrico at Le Casacce. “
