Chances are, you know of someone who is on a Gluten-Free diet.  Maybe that someone is you.  Last winter, it was believed that I had a gluten intolerance and went on a strict gluten-free diet.  Being told that I needed to eliminate foods that I loved from my diet was a scary thing and I had no idea where to start.  The Healthy Shopper Fall 2013 has some great organic and gluten-free products.

Pamela’s Products was started in 1988 and is known for delicious, gluten free foods with a full line of baking mixes, cookies and snack bars.  In the Healthy Shopper Fall 2013 you will find a Gluten/Wheat-free:

  • Pancake Mix
  • Artisan Flour Blend
  • Chocolate Cake Mix

Pamelas Product

While I was on my gluten-free diet, the one thing I missed the most was being able to eat cake.  With this gluten/wheat-free cake mix from Pamela’s you could have your cake and eat it too!

Simply Natural uses a minimal amount of ingredients to create their organic line of ketchup and mustards.  The Simply Natural Organic Ketchup is made of the following ingredients: Organic tomato puree, organic sugar, organic white vinegar, salt, organic onion powder and organic spices.  Now you know that your children (and YOU) can dip to their hearts content all the while you are knowing that you are not ingesting anything that isn’t natural.  The Simply Natural Organic Mustards come in 3 great prepared ways:  Yellow Mustard, Dijon Mustard and Stone Ground Mustard.  Try these mustards as a condiment or in your favorite recipe.

Simply Natural

Recently my 7 year old’s classroom had a contest to see who healthy they could make their lunches.  For every healthy item in their lunch bags, they would receive a ballot into a draw.  While my daughter doesn’t get drinking boxes for lunch often, she does on occasion and was quick to inform me that they weren’t as healthy as I thought they were.  While they were made of 100% fruit juice, they didn’t have the “no sugar added” note attached to it and upon further investigation we realized that these drinking boxes weren’t as healthy as we thought.

The Kiju Organic Drinking Boxes — Pomegranate Cherry and Mango Orange — are made of 100% fruit juice and have no additional sugar added.  Now I know that if I send these with my daughter to school, she will get that extra ballot for fun prizes.

To help out with the colds that accompany Back-To-School season, Healthy Shopper has picked Hyland’s Cold ‘n Cough 4 Kids.  This multi-symptom solution for children contains NO food colouring, NO artificial sweeteners and NO preservatives.

North American Herb and Spice Company’s Oreganol P73 (Oil of Wild Oregano) gelcaps are made from several species of handpicked wild oregano.   North American Herb and Spice has always maintained that nourishment from raw, whole foods is the key to maintaining optimal health.  Oregano is said to contain chemicals that might help reduce cough and spasms and other ailments.
