I am a very lucky lady that I can call myself a Canadian. When I look at this great country and consider all that we have to offer, I consider myself blessed. I started my journey exploring Canada on my honeymoon when my husband and I went to the West Coast. We decided then that we wanted to explore all of Canada with our family. We have seen much of Canada and one place that we would love to visit soon is Prince Edward Island. P.E.I. is more than just Anne of Green Gables and a long bridge to get there. There is much, much more that makes us eager to visit.
When you first look at this province, your first impression may be that it is a small island province with lots of heritage. While this is true, there are numerous little gems awaiting you. For an island of less than 6, 000 square kilometres, there are more than 150 festivals, events and activities. During the peek tourist season there is no shortage of activities for you to enjoy and with everything from nightlife to family entertaining, no one will be disappointed.
The first thing that captures your imagination while in P.E.I, is the beautiful natural landscape. The red soil, white beach, green hills and blue ocean will capture the rainbow for your soul.
Now that you are here (or dream about being here), it is time to think about what to do. Besides the festivals, there are local activities. P.E.I. boasts pristine golf courses, white sandy beaches, historic sites known the world over, and food experiences that will make any foodie envious. For the duffers in your family, there are over 33 stunning professional level golf courses with prices that might be lower than you expect. As for the beaches, the Island of P.E.I. is surrounded by ocean with soft sand beaches, breathtaking red sand stone cliffs overlooking pure ocean water and blue inviting skies. With hundreds of kilometers to choose from, you will find your perfect spot to relax. Rich in Acadian heritage, you will be sure to learn more about a place some people consider the birthplace of Confederation during your fun adventure in P.E.I.
I have just scratched the surface of what this province has to offer. P.E.I. is more than just Anne Of Green Gables. Check out tourismPEI.com for more info.
