A trip down memory lane

Time for a trip down memory lane.  When I was much younger I had a thing for country music (to be completely honest it was more like a thing for Paul Brandt).  Yes, Paul Brandt was the reason I loved country music.  I was in his number 1 fan.  I was in his fan club and I always made sure to get backstage passes whenever I saw him in concert.

Like most things in life, we grow up and our heart throbs evolve, however Paul Brandt always had a special place in my heart.  Eventually I met my boyfriend who eventually became by fiancee and eventually my husband. Trevor knew of my affection for Paul Brandt, so when it came time for him to pop the big question almost 15 years ago it was only logical that he got a musician friend of ours to play our favorite Paul Brandt song, It’s A Beautiful Thing.  Yes, in my church sanctuary while getting family pictures taken our friend jumps up to the piano to play the song, with me in great protest. You see, I missed my boyfriend so much since he lived 10 hours away, I did not want to hear my friend play “our song” on the piano. I asked him to wait till I left before he played. My friend, the pianist, assured me that at this moment he was practicing the song for an upcoming wedding (unknown to me, that it would be my wedding). I had no idea that a proposal, my proposal, was about to take place. When the chorus of the song started, my knight in shining armor surprised me when came out from behind the stage and asked me to be his wife.

Almost 15 years has passed since that day, so when I was asked if I wanted to go to the Road Trip Live Tour with Paul Brandt and Dean Brody in an all new Ford Edge, my heart skipped a beat. I was so excited to be able to go to the show, and to be able to drive in style too.

The meet and greet and concert were incredible. I can see why I had a teenage crush on Paul Brandt all those years ago – he stands up for what he believes in, he is a family man and he sings songs with meaning. Although I have outgrown those teenage feelings, I must say that I admire and respect him – and I’m glad my hubby could meet him and see him perform too. He has such a great voice, I think everyone must have left that night feeling pretty blessed.

Hubby and I enjoyed a sweet ride to and from the concert in the Ford Edge. The smart technology has safety in mind.  With an Enhanced Park Assist, it will not only parallel park, but perpendicular park while backing in also. All you do is control the break and gear control, and the Edge and all its sensors do all the rest – for real!  Also new is the camera…in the front of the vehicle.  For pulling into a parking spot you can see how much room you have, also the 180 degree camera is great for pulling out of a spot that you have obstructed views on both sides.  Your front grill camera will see things before you will and will alert you when there is something there.  I never thought I needed this feature, but after driving the edge for a week, I will sure miss it when I don’t have it anymore. When trying to get out of the concert parking lot, this feature sure was handy!

The edge offered a smooth ride with tons of other cool features that made this experience all that much cooler.  The trip into Winnipeg to see Paul Brandt was a memorable one that brought back many memories of my wonderful teenage years and my thoughtful husband.

That is fun that you got to go, and go in style. Ford is my fave, my Explorer was my most favorite vehicle ever. I'd love to try the Edge.
