FESTIVE AND FUN FAMILY TRADITIONS

Christmas is right around the corner and I’m excited because it is my favorite holiday of all.

My family has all sorts of fun around the holidays because we have created traditions.

Traditions are a great way to get the whole family involved in the festivities and fun.

FESTIVE AND FUN FAMILY TRADITIONS

CAROLING

I don’t care who you are, singing Christmas songs around the holidays is SO. MUCH. FUN!

I think it is even more special because it seems as though it is a tradition of the past.

I thoroughly enjoy caroling throughout town with family and friends around the holidays.

GIFTING

Give to others.

Not each other, but to others who need it.

You would be surprised how many people are going without.

Make it a family tradition to gift or serve someone else besides your immediate family this year.

Get as many people involved as you can!

CUT DOWN A TREE

I have seen so many families do this and I think it sounds like a ton of fun.

Cutting down a Christmas tree, instead of using a fake one.

Yes, there are actually Christmas tree farms that you can go and cut down yourself.

These farms often have hot chocolate waiting and wagon rides through the snow.

Even if you don’t go to get a tree, going on a sleigh ride and enjoying hot cocoa are a lot of fun, especially in the snow.

PICK OUT AN ORNAMENT

Every Christmas pick out one new ornament together as a family.

It is fun to look back on ornaments through the years and share stories and memories of why a certain one was selected.

You may want to use a fine tip marker to write the date on the ornament.

Decorating the inside and the outside of the house is one of my favorite traditions!

SPEND QUALITY TIME TOGETHER

The holidays can tend to get overcrowded with things that you “need” to be doing.

I think one of the most fun things you can do together as a family is actually just spending quality time together.

You can make it a movie night, pizza night, or anything else fun!

We like to bake together on the weekends in November and freeze the Christmas goodies for get-togethers during the holidays.

After we bake for a day and have the goodies ready for the freezer, we pick a treats to enjoy together with a mug of white hot chocolate.

(My girls can’t wait to make melting snowmen hot chocolate this holiday season, and I can’t blame them – it’s almost too cute to drink!)
