Paula Cole is back with a new album titled ‘Ithica’ She is probably best known for her mid-1990’s hits “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone” and “I Don’t Want To Wait” but this new album shows more musical maturity & growth.

At first glance I read the titles of the songs and my first thought was ‘she must have been through a divorce’ with titles such as ‘P.R.E.N.U.P’ ‘The Hard Way’ & ‘Waiting On A Miracle’ it’s pretty easy to see why I thought that. After reading the press about this album I found out that my thoughts were true. While sometimes divorce can be messy, this album is raw, emotional & surprisingly beautiful. I have always loved albums and songs that are personal & not written to be a number one song- these songs appeal to me, they show Paula’s emotions and feelings but most of all the rise above a dark place.

My favorite song on the album is ‘P.R.E.N.U.P’ because it has a catchy rhythm and the message is a good one. Basically she is talking to her daughter telling her that she needs to respect herself and her peace of mind enough to sign a prenuptial so that she can have a good marriage free from doubt.

All in all this album has some great songs that will appeal to a wide range of listeners but also have a very personal undertone.
