Home Date Hour

I don’t know about you, but it seems life is so busy. So busy that date nights rarely occur. Let’s not even get started on the cost of actually going out on a date! Are you with me on that?!?

I decided that I had to quit making excuses. Now we have what is called home date hour. We take 1 hour a week after the girls are in bed to turn off the phone, internet and tv and just spend time talking and playing a board game.

You would be amazed at what 1 hour can do. Think back way back. You know, back to when your relationship started. How much time did you spend thinking about your sweetheart. Being together an hour  a week would have been torture as you wanted to be together every waking moment.

No wonder communication breakdown starts to occur and relationships start to fizzle. I can’t help but think if we put just half the effort into our relationships that we did during that courting stage things may look a bit different.

What do you think? Do you make time for the love of your life?

That's a great idea. We have one night (Thursday) that we made "date night". We never go out but I promise not to open my laptop on that night ;)

Great idea, Jody! Thanks for sharing. We don't sit and play board games but we do try to sit either out on our lanai to visit when it is warm or else in our living room for a bit to visit with each other while the boys play with their Legos at their little table. Also, did you see my huge post about discounts, freebies, and giveaways?I have Mommy Moment listed in the post several times. This is such an important post, and after only 3+ years of marriage, we are already feeling the change in our relationship! A toddler can do that to you. We've instituted date night, twice a month we get a babysitter and go out. And, once a week, we stash our iPhones, Computers and BBM's and just spend time with each other. Saturday night we watched an Italian foreign film and popped popcorn, it was great!

Great idea! We just took a marriage seminar and they want us to do one date night a month and 1 over night date every 6 months.Hubby and I were talking and it is really expensive to go out (supper, entertainment, babysitter) so we talked about doing this - taking 1 hour or 1/2 an hour once a week or a couple of times a week just to spend together time.
