Relish!

This past week I have been eating great and not spending a lot of time in the kitchen…sound too good to be true? Well it’s not! If you read my blog, Creative Kristi, then you know I love to menu plan and spend only about $145 every 2 weeks to feed my family of 3 without coupons & mostly organic (Miss E is just starting to eat ‘real’ food so I don’t include her in the ‘budget’ since it’s such a small amount). But all that planning & finding recipes to try and then writing the grocery list takes some time. I’m used to it now and have 3 ‘sets’ of menus (winter, summer and spring/fall) so it doesn’t take me long at all-but if you are just starting out trying to not order take out or eat out less then it can be overwhelming.

Enter the website Relish! Each week you can log on, choose your menu, then print your recipes and shopping list! The shopping list has the names of the recipes at the top and each is assigned a letter, then each ingredient on your shopping list has a letter next to it corresponding to the recipe you will use it for. If you decide not to make a certain recipe then you can just cross off all items with that letter next to them without having to search the directions/recipes then find each item on the grocery list (am I the only one that finds this so cool?)

Since it’s hard to have a ‘product’ to show you because it’s a website/service- I made one of the meals (Lasagna Toss) and took pictures (by the way it was so yummy & quick!)

The thing I love about Relish! is that the menu is varied and fresh each week but it’s also customizable-If a meal has fish in it and you do not like fish? Great! Don’t add that to your list and click on a new section to add something else. The sections you can choose recipes from are: Kid-friendly, vegetarian, simple gourmet, quick, low calorie, grilling, crock-pot, budget-friendly, etc. (right now they even have lots of sections for Holiday food-appetizers, desserts, etc)

You can even add some meals to a separate ‘freezer’ list so if you have extra time that week you can cook an extra meal and freeze it to save for a busier week! I took advantage of that one to pick out a couple recipes to freeze for this week!

I think that if you are a busy person that wants to eat better, have less time spent on grocery shopping/planning meals than this is the site for you! The recipes are varied and change up every week and they claim that 5 dinners will cost under $90 each week so that should save you money on your food budget!

You can subscribe in 3, 6 or 12 month time frames (starting at $21 for the 3 month subscription) and you can also give a gift subscription if you know someone who could use this service! (a great Christmas/Holiday gift for that hard-to-buy for someone on your list!)

So go check out Relish! -you’ll be glad you saved yourself some time this busy time of year!

The Lasagna Toss sounds so good. Since I found out I had candida I have been eating to live. That means my meals are not that good tasting and really don't look that good either.

I am now following you gfc, networked blogs, twitter and I like you on fb.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Terry
