Well Ladies, I have some news for you.

I am starting mission beautiful. Mission Beautiful is my way of making a difference in the lives of women today. Too many women are going through life with an unhealthy self-image and that HAS to change.

Earlier this week I was at an event in Toronto and I was encouraging some women to audibly say “I am Beautiful”. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised that quite a number of women just could not do it.

It is everywhere, on Facebook, Twitter, in everyday life. Women hide behind their insecurities and go to extremes to feel beautiful.

Many forms of media today are  depicting beauty in a way that is unrealistic and harsh. So what if you are heavier than the next woman, your nose is larger, your butt is too big or you have a flat chest. I could go on & on & on about what women do not like about themselves, but why?

Today I want to encourage you to focus on 1 thing you love about the way you look. Just 1 thing! Instead of looking in the mirror and saying “Ugh, I don’t like______”, I want you to rather look in the mirror and say (in an audible voice) “I love my_______“.

That is all for today. I hope you will come back regularly  for our Mission Beautiful posts. Be sure to follow me on Twitter and check out the hashtag #missionbeautiful for daily encouragement and support!

I will be sharing more of my personal journey as time goes on and I would love to address questions or things you struggle with too. Please leave comments here, on Facebook or Twitter and I’ll do my best to help you learn how beautiful you really are!

If you know of any women who need some encouragement in this area, please welcome them here too!

Great message...sounds identical to my whole Mom Sexy Revolution that I started a year ago...even the mirror thing. Just posted about that a couple weeks ago for the anniversary of my whole movement!

It is such a great message! That is awesome that you are sharing a similar movement. My husband has been encouraging me to do the whole mirror thing and sticky notes (which I'll post about this week) for about 5 years now. I hope many people will embrace the message, even if it makes a difference for the next generation!

I am probably the worst person for putting myself down. Although I have lost about 70lbs (gained a few then lost again a few times!) I still don't feel good in my own skin (i'm working on it). So today I will say that I love my eyes :)

Jennifer, that is incredible! I have a lot of extra weight, I now do not focus on that. It has been a journey, but I can now honestly say..I am beautiful. I hope you will soon be able to do the same thing! (hugs)

I couldn't agree more. I know nothing will ever stop people from finding what they consider faults with themselves. However, we need to start realizing that we are beautiful. There are days that I don't look so hot, haha, but I know full well that I'm a beautiful woman despite some faults (mainly my teeth, but I'm working on that). Even when I was over weight, I was still beautiful. After losing the weight (I gain a bit back and have to work on that again), I FELT beautiful and THAT is what makes the difference. I knew I was beautiful before then but I didn't feel it. I feel it now and as much as I love to hear my husband tell me I'm beautiful, I feel that I am.

Alex, you are right about us always finding faults in ourselves. I have learned that when I focus on what i love the other things become minor. I hope I can encourage other women to do the same!
