The Christian Mama’s Guide To Having A Baby (CLOSED)

I don’t know about you, but when I was pregnant I couldn’t get enough of reading pregnancy books, websites and magazines.

After receiving The Christian Mama’s Guide to Having a Baby to review I wish I had this book available to me when I was pregnant with my children. Just look at the cover – bright, colorful and humorous.

fun cover

The Christian Mama’s Guide to Having a Baby is written by 32-year-old Erin Macpherson, mother of 2 with another one on the way. Erin uses wit, non-stop humor, and compassion to guide pregnant women through EVERY stage of pregnancy from the moment the pregnancy test reads positive, to those first sleepless nights with a new baby. She becomes the surrogate funny, wise friend who makes you laugh even when you want to cry.

There are many other pregnancy books out there, but unlike many of them, Erin also looks at the spiritual side of having a baby.

Dads will find a whole chapter devoted just to them, written for them by other dads! With the mix of humor and practical help, Dad’s will find help and comfort from what to expect at the doctor’s office, to how to handle pregnancy cravings.

Since I am not pregnant and we are done having kids, I passed this book on to my sister who is due with her first child in about a month to get a pregnant woman’s perspective. She had lots of great things to say! She thought the book was lighthearted and funny, not so “gloom & doom” like some other pregnancy books out there. She thought that the tips by dads was GREAT, and that there was a ½ page condensed version for guys that don’t like to read. She was going to get her husband to definitely check out the chapter dedicated for dads.

Here is a small taste off of the back cover:

You’re pregnant. You thought you’d be glowing. Instead you are glistening with sweat, reeling from nausea, and, worst of all, you can’t get your favorite jeans buttoned. You’re irritated, nervous, bloated and, to be perfectly honest, a bit annoyed that it takes 9 WHOLE months to grow a baby. Couldn’t God have sped up the process a bit – say in only two or three weeks?

In a light, reassuring, girlfriend-to-girlfriend style, MacPherson helps readers build confidence as she unfolds the mysteries of each trimester of pregnancy.
