Win a Naosap Harvest Organic Wild Rice gift basket ($98 value)

Naosap HarvestProduct Moment:

“Our organic wild rice is grown in the pristine, isolated lakes of northern Manitoba, Canada. Its nutritional values and versatility may surprise you. Contrary to what many people believe, wild rice is not rice at all but a grass.  Much of it sold today is grown in man made lakes or ponds (paddy rice), where the lakes are drained in the fall for harvest.  Our rice is all grown in Manitoba, Canada’s natural, pristine lakes which produce a longer, fuller darker grain. As our summer days are longer, our natural rice has the opportunity to mature to perfection. Our rice is certified organic through OPAM (Organic Producers Association of Manitoba)”.

Mommy Moment:

As soon as I opened the beautiful gift basket I saw a recipe for the Naosap Harvest Granola bars. Since I am always on the lookout for homemade snacks for school lunches I decided to make a batch of them right away. Kate got right in to help.We decided to use the chocolate covered cranberries that were included in the gift basket instead of using raisins or chocolate chips.

The ultimate test was to see if they were a hit with the family and they were. Just take a look at them for yourself….Mmm Good! I can’t wait to try the Manitoba Maple Wild Rice Pudding too,  it may not be the healthiest but looks oh so yummy!

This was my first time using wild rice flour. It is ground up very fine and I have used it in many recipes with great success. We even made pancakes using the wild rice flour and fresh berries…a new breakfast favorite!

The wild rice is unlike any other wild rice I have purchased. The Naosap Wild Rice is longer and richer in color and the aroma is wonderful as well. I must also mention I was impressed with the nutritional information. Gluten-free, and a good source of protein, iron and fibre. I personally like to make a large batch of the rice and freeze the extra. The rice can be reheated, and still tastes terrific. I actually love to add the reheated wild rice to my homemade soups and stews.

One of my favorite features is that you can order directly of the Naosap Harvest site and even pay via PayPal!
