As an avid lover of the outdoors, I am always looking for opportunities to travel in area’s where people (and cell phone signals) rarely roam. And when I do I know that I need to take precautions to know that I will be ok and can find my way back. There are lots of GPS system out there that can assist me with this, however the Magellan eXplorist GC is one that would highly recommend.The first thing I noticed about this GPS was the rugged design. The rubber exterior and tight seals indicates it will be able to withstand falls, drops and general overall use.
Now I have used several handheld GPS in my day and have spent many hours trying to figure out how they work and what features they all have.
Frustrating.
The Magellan eXplorist is one of the easiest GPS’s I have ever used. The commands are simple to understand and the buttons are clearly and easily marked. The operating system is very responsive and quick to respond.
As far as being very reliable, I have tried this GPS in our basement on a cloudy day and got a clear signal. Running just on just 2 AA batteries this is a powerhouse of a GPS.
Another feature that this GPS has will appeal to a new group of hobbyists…Geocachers. This is the sport where items or notes are hidden and Geocachers need to find the item or object according to GPS coordinates. The GPS has a build in map that shows where you can find cashes close to you.

I used to go Geocaching years ago with my Garmin GPS III+. This would make it much nicer to go geocaching again.
