Sometimes

Sometimes there aren’t enough words to get through something so awful, something so treacherous, that you can’t even begin to wrap your head around it.

Sometimes life is unpredictable, scary, and really, really unfair.

Sometimes innocence is cut short, even though it shouldn’t be.

Sometimes moving forward seems like an impossible task.  Sometimes I wonder what it even means to move forward.

But we have to.  We have to find peace and move forward.

Because the only way to make the world a better place is to just start doing it.

Hug your children like you mean it.  Every chance you get.

Teach empathy early and often.

Help those who fall along the way.  They will thank you for it one day.

Consider the feelings of others before you speak your mind.

Put your family first.  Your children need you the most.

Be the best person that you can be.  Every.  Single.  Day.

And be the person that you want your child to become.  Your actions mean more than your words.

Words usually come easily to me.  Too easily, some might say.  But every once in a while something shocks me to my very core and, in those moments, words seem useless.

Sometimes all you can really do is hold on tight to the ones you love and put your best foot forward every step of the way.

With a heavy heart, I will keep all of the families affected by the Sandy Hook school shooting in my thoughts and prayers this holiday season.  I hope I can count on all of you to do the same.
