Wisconsin Dells ~ Where to Relax {Part #4 of our Wisconsin Dells Journey}

Where to relax? You may get exhausted, exhilarated, sunburned, mesmerized and awestruck but one thing you’ll never get in Wisconsin Dells is bored. The community of about 5,000 people in the state of Wisconsin welcomes an astonishing five million visitors a year. Why do they come? In a word, waterparks. Wisconsin Dells bills itself as the Waterpark Capital of the World, and with good reason. But if you’re ready to write off Wisconsin Dells because you’re not really a water person, hold on just a minute. Water parks may have put The Dells on the vacation map, but it’s everything else that keeps visitors coming back year after year.

We proudly present our top three picks when it comes to thrill rides, relaxation, restaurants and accommodations—everything you need to plan your road trip to Wisconsin Dells.

And now: Wisconsin Dells Where to relax, slow down, Chill out!

1. Sundara Spa

Each visit begins with the Purifying Bath Ritual, a self-guided treatment in the spa’s wet area. The first stop is the sandstone body polish, a reddish, grainy and aromatic scrub that does and excellent job of exfoliating. Then it’s time for a rainfall shower, aroma steam room and a soak in the oil-enhanced hot pool. Then step into the cool plunge pool (at 65F) to step up circulation. All this is included in the price of any treatment at the spa. Leave all your tension on the table with a Shiro Dhara treatment. This neck and face massage ends with a golden flow of therapeutic oils on the third eye, in the centre of the brow. You can’t help but drift into the land of meditation. Take home Sundara Spa hydrating mist and nourishing body milk to remind you of your visit.

2. Cold Water Canyon Golf at Chula Vista

The front nine was built way back in 1923 in the traditional style. But it’s the back nine—opened this spring—that will make you dig deep for a good number on your scorecard. It features link-style hills, moguls and bunkers as well as twisting fairways. If you’re staying at the Chulas Vista Resort, the course is just a short stroll away. That means the non-golfers in your group can enjoy the waterparks or maybe even visit the spa. It’s also home to Big Moe’s Restaurant that offers an excellent selection of beer along with a mouth-watering Friday night fish fry. Regular green fees start at around $55 per person and include a shared cart.

3. Tanger Outlet Center

If retail therapy is your brand of relaxation, take a stroll through the airy centre of the Tanger Outlet and let the 60 shops entice you from either side. Pop into Abercrombie & Fitch, the Crocs Outlet and the Kitchen Collection before taking a break at The Fudgery. Will it be New Orleans Praline or chocolate peanut butter today? This mall is heavy on footwear, so if you need new shoes, check out Skechers, Under Armour, Famous Footwear or one of the other dozen shops that sell them.

Be sure to check out the other 3 instalments featuring: Where to get your heart racing, Where to eat and Where to lay your head down.
