Lakeview Hecla Resort, an affordable family destination

On our way home from our family vacation I had the radio on. I heard that it is the 2nd coldest winter in Manitoba history.  One would think that with our brutally cold winter a family vacation would involve a plane and a warm sunny destination. Although cold, we had a sunny destination, we did not let the cold weather get us down.

The Lakeview Hecla Resort is a hidden Manitoba Gem that can be enjoyed by the family year round, as we discovered.  To start off the resort facilities itself are AMAZING.

The recently renovated hotel boasts a HUGE swimming area that includes a family pool area with lazy river and large water slide.

As for the “Adult” side of the pool, there is a hydrotherapy hot tub, mineral bath, hydro-kinetics pool, plunge pool (17 degrees) and a aroma infused steam room.

Of course my family spent most of our time in the kids area – which also has a hot tub.  (In the summer time there is an awesome looking splash park outside where the kids can also beat the heat.)

As for the rooms they were very spacious with lots of cool rooms the bathroom was very large with a shower that included body jets and deep soaker tub.  And with “Sleep Number” beds, you can dial in your comfort level and rest after a long hard day of swimming or playing outside.

As for activities outside the Lakeview Hecla resort has you covered.  With an activity room that includes free, snow shoes, cross country ski’s, sleds, skating rinks and fire pits, you have a plethora of activities to choose from.

Seagulls is the restaurant in the resort that has top quality food and drinks.  From a traditional pizza oven to a large variety of fish samplings, your taste buds will be teased and pleasured.

This was a great winter trip for our family. With rates starting at $89/night in winter, this resort is worth checking out for a family destination!

In the coming days I will report more to you about what we did and how the resort along with Travel Manitoba took care of us to ensure we had a true Hecla park experience.

Thanks to Travel Manitoba and Lakeview Hecla resort for this awesome family experience.

It really is - I love that it is far enough to feel like I am on vacation, yet close enough that I could go on a long weekend. It is about 3 hours from where I live.

Wow! I didn't know that Hecla Island had a resort. We camped there when I was younger, and the scenery was just amazing. Their resort looks phenomenal! And that pickerel..mmmm! I hope it was as delicious as it looks. Since I'm in MB this is a great idea for future family getaways! :) Thanks for sharing your experience.
