Who Would YOU Nominate for Walmart’s 2014 Mom of the Year?

Shaping, molding and nurturing one of the country’s most important resources, our children, is no small feat, and is one that requires patience, perseverance and passion. Through countless hours, Canadian mothers play many different roles, and display courage and self-sacrifice that deem them real life heroes to their families and the communities in which they serve.  They’re the caretakers, the confidantes, the diaper-changers, and the decision-makers. Walmart’s Mom of the Year is a way for all of us to recognize the Moms in our lives and say thank you for everything they do.

Mom of the Year
I’m sure we all know of a mom who inspires us and who we admire and look up to. For me, that mom is my younger sister. Right now she is not only has 2 girls under the age of 3, but is also pregnant with her third baby and is due in a couple of months. I’m sure parenting her girls hasn’t always been easy (between colic, a broken arm and many sleepless nights) but I have always seen her act with grace and compassion towards her children. Even in the middle of a full-blown temper tantrum, she manages to keep her composure and calmly take charge of the situation.

She is also great at harnessing “unexpected creativity” and finding great ways for her girls to “help” in any task she is doing at the moment.  Not only is she a fantastic mom to her girls, she is also a great aunt to my children!

Walmart Canada is once again running the Mom of the Year Award, giving people across the country the opportunity to recognize the enormous contribution mothers make to their families and to their communities.
