Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the cool, crisp air, the crunch of the leaves beneath my feet when I walk, and the fall scents that only comes with the autumn season. I love the aroma that fall brings with it and today I will share with you five ways to fill your home with these irresistible fall scents that come with the season.

I have never been a person who can handle a lot synthetic smells, so the ideas I share with you today are ones that I have found work for me in my home.
  1. Cooking and baking – I remember walking into my grandmas house in fall and the aroma of her pumpkin bundt cake is a scent I remember till this day.
  2. Open the windows – The days may be getting cooler, but even opening the windows for a few minutes will help bring that fall aroma fill your home.
  3. Use essential oils – Not only do I love the benefits of essential oils, but oils like onguard, cinnamon, cassia and clove are perfect for the fall season. You can diffuse the oils or add drops of essential oils to make your own potpourri.
  4. Neutralize other odours – GLAD odour guardbags help neutralize trash odours that might get in the way of enjoying the fall scents in your home.
  5. Greenery – Bring in some green branches along with fresh flowers to enjoy that woodsy scent that is a natural autumn aroma.

These are just five of the ways you can  fill your home with fall scents this time of year. My house may not always be tidy, but when it has the aroma that comes with the season, I can’t help but smile.

Tell me, what are your favorite ways to bring the autumn aromas inside your home? Do you have a favorite fall scent?

I, like you, am generally not a fan of synthetic scents. However there is one scent I particularly love. It's not really a fall scent, but vanilla is pretty awesome. I have some vanilla candles which are pretty much the only scented candles I will burn. Sometimes when I go to the store, I will test out some of the scents, especially new ones I haven't tried before, but I almost always turn my nose up to them. I certainly don't want them in my home. I generally don't bring the scent of the outdoors into my home though, but that's because I love the outdoors so much that for me, it's just nice to sit outside and enjoy the scents right where they are naturally. The only thing I have to worry about is making sure I bug spray, or I'll get eaten by mosquitos. I can't stand them! When I was a kid, they ate me up. Then as an adult for a long time, they never bothered me even without bug spray. My blood just must have not been very appealing, but now, they eat me even if I go outside for five minutes or less! I might love the sights, sounds, and scents of fall, but I can't stand the insects!

I love the idea of opening the windows this time of year! It saves money! Air fresheners are nice, but sometimes they can be too much of a good thing, and not to mention expensive!!

I often put add some vanilla or cinnamon to water and let it simmer on the stove to make my home smell wonderful! I've heard of people dabbing a bit of vanilla onto a light bulb, too, but I'm not so sure that's a good idea, so I've never done it.
