Asessippi Ski Area and Resort ~ Fun for the whole family #ExploreMB

It is winter in Manitoba, and like many families we are struggling with the winter and things to do as a family.  This past weekend we had the chance to do something we have never done before as a family and it was a great weekend full of firsts, fun and snow.  We took a drive to Asessippi Ski Area and Resort and this was an awesome family trip.

When we first arrived we were fitted with our equipment by the knowledgeable staff who knew about what our needs were with our skill level….which was zero.  Next we wandered off to the base of the bunny hill to meet our instructor Mikyla.  She was a very nice and patient instructor who took the time to ensure we had the basic skills to be able to handle the slops.  And while some of the family members took to it better than other, my girls were eager to hit the big slops.  And while this mama liked the bunny hill and the carpet that whisked us up to the top of that was more my pace, our family ventured to the top of the bigger hill with the chair lift.

No matter where we went, the chair lifts, the instructors, the staff…they were all super nice.  My daughter who was struggling at one of the chair lifts got her ski’s crossed with my husband and they had to stop the lift to get her organized.  They were not upset or put off.  Instead they helped her get on and even put her ski’s on her.  No matter where we were the staff were top notch and super accommodating to our, otherwise non-skiing family.

The resort has lots to offer including a plethora of instructors waiting to help you or your family with either skiing or snowboarding with a ski school for the regular attenders.  Also a rental shop with everything you could need for your trip.  And if hurling down the side of a mountain on a piece of wood strapped to your feet is not for you, there is also a huge tub slide with lifts to the top for added fun and conservation of energy.

And when you are done your day or need a break, the chalet has a large canteen with everything from bison burgers to salads with all the standards sides and fixings.

At the start of the week, only 1 family member had ever skied.  And now I can say we all have, thanks to the beautiful conditions and facility that Asessippi has to offer.  This truly is a Manitoba gem and worth every km that you have to drive to get there for this family friendly adventure.  With 26 runs, 3 chair lifts, 2 terrain parks with perfectly groomed trails that are capable for all skill levels, your family will have a blast…I know ours did.

I've been skiing since I was 5 and I just LOVE it... nothing like that freedom flying down the slopes! I live in the States but have a goal to visit more Canadian ski resorts = ) This one looks great!

I've always wanted to really learn how to ski. I have done it, but I'm not good and lessons would be awesome!

It looks like you all had such a great time! I have to say, growing up in Chicago makes me miss all the snow and fun that comes with it for sure. But now, living in Vegas, I sure don't miss that cold!
