This simple wife saver breakfast french toast casserole bake is perfect for those times when the family is gathered around your table for the holiday season or for a hearty weeknight meal.

INGREDIENTS:

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 375 and generously grease a 9×13 baking pan with cooking spray.

Pour cubed bread into prepared pan.

Use the same bread measuring bowl and add eggs, half and half, white sugar, vanilla and ground cinnamon. Whisk until mixed well. Pour mixture slowly over bread.

 In a small bowl, melt butter and add brown sugar. Stir and spoon over bread. This is the most awkward step! Just do a little dollop here and there on the top of the dish.

Bake for 20-30 minutes or until a knife stuck in the center comes out clean.

Serves 8-12.

You can easily make this the night before, store wrapped in plastic wrap in the refrigerator. You may need to adjust your baking time if you do refrigerate this.

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

So I just made this for the second time. First time not sure what happened but it was a bit dry and the brown sugar topping a bit scarce. This time, I decided to mix up the mixture first in a giant bowl so all the bread was covered and well soaked. Then I spooned on the topping as instructed but let it sit for about 15 minutes. The topping spread out and a majority of the casserole was now covered with topping. It came out super delicious this time and will continue to make it.
