ADDING AN ABOVE GROUND POOL AND DECK

Deciding to add an above ground pool and deck did not happen instantly for us. A few years ago we put an addition on the back of our house. The addition was a family room with doors facing the backyard. We were not sure what we wanted to do with our yard, so we decided to leave it for a year or two until we had a better idea.

Last summer we noticed that our girls were starting to outgrow the play structure, so we thought it may be time to add a deck off the family room so we could enjoy lots of summer barbecues. We kept dreaming and thinking about how we would love to have a pool as well. I honestly thought it would be completely out of our price range.

We had friends and family that had above ground swimming pools so we started to talk with them. After going to many stores and browsing many sites online, we found poolsuppliescanada.ca. It helped that we had heard good reviews from my aunt and uncle as well as online.

We called Pool Supplies Canada and spoke to their sales team who were very informative and incredibly helpful.  They helped us create the package that best suited our needs. We decided on the Creation (similar to the Galaxy) 18 foot 54 inch above ground pool. I was incredibly pleased with the price of the pool. Even with adding on some extras, the price was way less than what I had expected.

A week after we placed the order, the packaged arrived and the prep work began. I have to say I was relieved. I was a little bit nervous about purchasing an above ground pool online, but the process of ordering online went very well. We leveled the ground and had some friends come help set up the pool. After the pool was in place we constructed a deck to surround the pool.

People ask us how difficult it was to order the pool and get it set up and I have to say, leveling the ground was the hardest part of the whole project. Putting the liner in the pool took some time, but it was not difficult.

Since it was late in the season, the girls only got to jump in a few times before the weather was too cold.

Now that Spring is here, the countdown is on till swimming can begin. I plan to paint the railings on the deck and even add a small gazebo with a canopy yet too. When I look out and see what we have created in our backyard I see the investment we have made for our family.

I can see countless summers playing with our girls in the pool and making memories with them and their friends. Having our children around and as they grow older is something that we are excited about. It will be so much fun to connect with the kids’ friends and enjoy many summer days here.
