NEW YEARS EVE ACTIVITIES FOR FAMILIES

New Year’s Eve is not just for adults. When we were younger, we may have spent time going from one party to another, having drinks and ringing in the New Year with our friends. Now as parents let’s face it, it can be hard enough to get a babysitter on a normal day let alone New Year’s Eve.

Not only that, but you’d rather ring in the new year with your family. There are many ways to make sure that New Years is fun and inclusive for kids.

GET ALL DRESSED UP

Even if you are staying home with the kids for New Years Eve, you can get dressed in your fanciest attire! It can be fun to dress up and you really don’t need to be going anywhere to do it. Pick some festive sparkly clothes, do your hair and makeup and feel great.

PAJAMA PARTY

If your family is not feeling into the idea of getting dressed to the nines, have a pajama party. Put on your favourite, cozy and warm jammies, grab your favourite blanket or stuffed animal and enjoy the party in comfort.

PLAY GAMES

Make New Years a family game night. You can play games such as “Guess the New Years Resolutions,” or just pick one of your favourite family board games and go to town.

HAVE A DANCE PARTY

Whether you opted for pajamas or your fancy clothes, put on some music and boogie. Having a family dance party is a whole lot of fun and a great way to get some of that energy out.

MAKE FAMILY RESOLUTIONS

Sit down as a family and talk about what you want the New Year to be like. Set goals and resolutions as a family and put a plan into action to achieve them together.

PARTY DOWN

If you have any extra party decorations left over from birthday parties, like streamers, confetti, or balloons, get them out and decorate!

Of course, any good New Year’s Eve party has food.  Try some of these great APPETIZERS at your New Year’s Eve party!

There are many fabulous ways to celebrate the coming new year as a family. Have a save and happy New Year!

I love the idea of using up the year's extra decorations. We usually have a very low key new years eve but this year we're hosting friends for dinner.

I've been hosting a New Years Eve party every year for 25 years and it started out when my husband and I were dating and no one had kids and now everyone still comes but there's kids of all ages. We still have tonnes of fun!
