I heard on a radio program once that when we wake up and practice gratitude, we could say to ourselves, "How can I make my husband/wife: a.) happy they are alive, and b.) happy they are married to me." This has stuck with me and it's so amazing how a simple "What can I do for this person" can be so fulfilling. The bonus and another super important thing for those who have children is to see his or her parents really loving, respecting, listening, and honoring the vows they made to one another. I think you are right on the money with this!

I love that saying you heard on the radio. I personally try to spend a few seconds before my husband comes home from work thinking about the reasons I wanted to marry him in the first place - still puts a smile on my face every time - so at least when he walks in the door he feels that I appreciate him before I may heap on any struggles/frustrations I had through the day.
